I intended on getting my composition books cut in half at the Home Depot but I have been hearing from lots of teachers that they are no longer doing that, and a lot of teachers are saying that the saws destroy a bunch of books in the process...so after hearing that I decided to go a safer route.
I made tabs instead! This will help me get a lot more use out of my composition books. There are three different sections created by using these tabs.
The tabs are made using a punch from Stampin' Up. It's retired, but you can still find it on Ebay. This is what it looks like:
The whole process took about 45 minutes from start to finish, so it wasn't too time consuming.
Good luck to all those of you starting school today:)

Those tabs must have taken forever to do! I tried to get mine cut a few years ago and it was a fiasco. I still wonder how others get it done?? Your owls labels are precious. Good luck with school today!!!

I kept wondering the same thing:) Thanks!
DeleteI love your owl labels. I hope you have a wonderful 1st day!!! I am your newest follower.
ReplyDeleteThank you! I'm heading over to visit you right now!
DeleteUsing tabs in your books is a great idea, I might have to do that with my bigger books. I've never gone to Home Depot or Lowes to have my books cut. I've always gone to a copy center and never had a problem. Have a GREAT YEAR.

Simpson Superstars
I'm going to have to give that a try! Thanks for the tip:)
DeleteWhich copy store?? I've tried Kinko's (they looked at me like I was crazy) and Staples. Staples charges 2.00 a cut and can cut 2 books a time. Yikes!
DeleteThanks for the owls labels... can't wait to use them. Check out the little owl guys I made this week!

I agree with Simpson Superstars, I always get mine cut at Kinkos. It's something like $1.50 per cut and they can cut about 5 books at a time.

DeleteI took my note books to office depot and they cut them for a reasonable price! Love your tabs!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tip! I will have to keep this in mind for the next time:)
DeleteI asked at office depot and they said they couldn't do it... which is weird since people were saying they could. Turned out we have something at school that could cut them so I got it done there. I'm excited to try incorporating math journaling with foldables. Think it will be a great learning tool.
ReplyDeleteFantastic idea to tab the notebooks!!
