About

Hello and thank you for visiting!  The purpose of me creating this blog is to share ideas but most importantly to learn from all those amazing teachers out there in the blogging world.

So here is some info about me:

I graduated from Arizona State University in 2007 with a BA in education with an ESL endorsement.  I earned my master's degree in curriculum and instruction from Grand Canyon University in 2013.

I teach in southwestern Arizona.  It's super hot here for part of the year, but the weather is perfect the rest of the year, so it kind of makes up for those three rough months.  I have taught second grade for the entire length of my teaching career, going on eight years now!  Second grade has been fantastic.  The kids can handle taking on difficult concepts but still enjoy doing "kidish" things!  It's a lot of fun.  This year (2014) I will be exploring first grade.  Very excited to take on this new adventure :) My classroom typically consists of anywhere between 20-26 students.  Out of my past seven years of teaching, I have spent six of them teaching ELL's.  Being an ELL myself I can use my background to best serve my kids.

I have three hobbies that I LOVE!  One of them being photography.  I finally purchased a DSLR and while I have a lot to learn, it's a lot of fun!  My husband has learned that there will be daily pictures taken and my dog has learned how to pose :)
Crafting is another one of my hobbies.  Being crafty comes in handy as a teacher!  Especially when making materials for my students and classroom decorations.  I usually make cards, but I'm experimenting with scrapbooking too.  These are some of the cards I have made:
Cake decorating is also something I really enjoy.  A couple of years ago I took some cake decorating classes at Hobby Lobby with some friends and I am so glad I did.  Before the class I didn't know how to bake anything, not even boxed cake!  I'm no expert now, but I can do a lot more than I ever thought I ever would be able to do.  These are some of my favorite cakes:

My husband and I purchased a new home in October of 2012 and it has been so nice to be able to actually decorate our home!  I have been married for six years and we have one sweet pug we love with all our hearts!

In my free time I spend some time (way too much in my husband's opinion) on Pinterest, watching movies, planning, and perusing my favorite teacher blogs!

  1. Wow! I love that you are crafty too! My Cricut has been great in the class. I also have been doing a Scrapbook Club after school for the past 3 years.

  2. I am such a huge fan of your blog! Although I am not a teacher yet, I have gotten many wonderful ideas from here to use in my future classroom.

It's also great that you graduated from ASU! I am currently in their iTeachAZ program for special education/elementary ed.

Thank you so much for sharing your ideas. They will definitely help me and I cannot wait to try them!

  6. You are very talented. This will be my first year in first, as I have done both third and second grades in the past. I am super excited, but nervous at the same time. I've been reading your blog entries and I'm so intrigued by all of your products. I do have a question... in regards to your library labels, what does A, B,C, Book Bin One, etc. stand for? I am trying to find a simple way for both myself and students to keep the area as clean as possible...and in the correct order.

Thank you for all your awesome advice. I look forward to keep learning from you. It makes it more awesome that you are also from AZ!
